Overview
MOOG focuses on permanent magnet brushless servomotors. Some of the key characteristics of MOOG motors is their high level of customization. Rather than offering standardized models, many of their servomotors are engineered or adapted to meet specific machine requirements. This includes variations in:
- Electrical characteristics.
- Mechanical design.
- Feedback systems (resolvers, incremental, or absolute encoders).
- Connector types and configurations.
In this article, we outline the MOOG servomotor model types currently known and provide details on the compatible cables available in our catalog to support proper testing.
In many cases, we are able to support the feedback devices commonly equipped into these motors.

G/G4xx Series
The G/G4xx line of motors are normally equipped with resolvers as the main feedback options, however they could still be customized and designed to support unique application requirements not limited to custom motor windings, shafts, frameless designs, connector configurations (including pigtails), feedback devices and designs for unique working environments.

Wiring Diagram (Stegmann Absolute Encoders)
The Stegmann Absolute encoders are available in different presentations, according to MOOG they are either absolute single turn encoders ( SKS36 & SRS50) or multi-turn absolute encoders (SKM36 & SRM50).
The SKS/SKM encoders can be tested using the direct-to-encoder cable TI-5094 and for the SRS/SRM encoders the TI-5069.
Like most of the SICK Stegmann Hiperface encoders the TI-5104 module is also required.
Wiring Diagram (Heidenhain Incremental)
As seen in the wiring diagram for Heidenhain Incremental encoders, these encoders also output the signals (C & D) which is likely that these motors run on Siemens drives, for further testing details on the C & D signals please refer to the following article: Siemens motors with Heidenhain ERN1387 (or Hengstler S21 / RS53) encoders.
According to the motor's specs there's two possible encoder models that could come equipped on these motors "ERN1185 & ERN1387", both encoders are tested using the software selection "Generic Incremental". These encoders will use the direct-to-encoder cable TI-5090 with the TI-5101 module.
Wiring Diagram (Heidenhain Absolute)
They Heidenhain Absolute encoders could come in 4 different presentations, all of them having the same wiring diagram. According to the motor's specs the encoder models are (ECN1113 & ECN1313 Absolute Single Turn) or (EQN1125 & EQN1325 Absolute Multi Turn). Our feedback cable TI-5059 in addition of the module TI-5101 can be used for testing. The EQN 1125 and the ECN 1113 can also be tested with the direct-to-encoder cable TI-5668 and the ECN1313 and EQN1325 with the direct-to-encoder cable TI-5079.

Fastact K/F
The K series of motors are designed to accept high accelerations and overload capabilities. The FAS F family is the FAS K version equipped with an integral fan for forced cooling of the motor casing. Such characteristics are achieved through an 8-pole electromagnetic design.

These are the third generation of brushless servomotors. FAS N and FAE N servomotors integrate with and complete the existing families of motors. The FAS N motors are equipped with a resolver feedback device and are available in both 230VAC and 400/460VAC versions. The FAE N with an incremental encoder are also available in both 230VAC and 400/460VAC versions and are manufactured to specifically be used in DS200 drives.

Fas T motors provide high dynamic performance characteristics coupled with automated production techniques, to offer performance advantages and traditional DC servo system economy. The FAS F family is the FAS T version equipped with an integral fan.

FC Brushless Servomotors for Direct Drive
FC series are designed for direct coupling to shaft load. The torque at low rotation speed ensures very high accuracy. The windings of these motors have been designed for 180V or 325V.
