In some rare instances you may be confronted with an incredibly long delay when selecting the COM port in our Windows software (WinTI5000JX or Athena). Normally when you click the COM selection dropdown box it should instantly show you the available COM ports. In some cases there is a delay of almost 1 minute from when you click the COM dropdown box before you see the tester com ports, and if you click again out of impatience (or clicked the wrong port) then you have to wait another minute on top of that until the ports are displayed again. This can be very frustrating but there is an easy fix.
The issue appears to be caused by a Bluetooth adapter. Our in-house PC had several Bluetooth devices paired to the adapter, each of them generating their own unique com port. Even though these devices were not powered on or connected, their com ports still showed in Device Manager. When you click the COM Port selection in our software it scans all the com ports on the PC. In this case it must have been getting hung up on the Bluetooth ports that were not in use. Try disabling your Bluetooth adapter and see if that fixes the problem. If so, it would be good to go through your paired Bluetooth devices and unpair any that are not currently being used.
