There are many different types of motors in the Omron R88M series. In general, they all tend to be copies of common manufacturer motor setups, like Yaskawa, Panasonic, and others. This article attempts to list all the various series and provide cable and testing information for any that we
R88M-G and R88M-K series motors appear to be set up much the same as Panasonic motors. They use serial encoders such as the MFE0017, MFE2500P8NX, MFE0020, and others. They are compatible with the Panasonic feedback test cables TI-5074, TI-5078, TI-5087, TI-5642, TI-5711, and TI-5757.
The encoders do store a small amount of memory data, including the Omron motor model. The Omron data is compatible with our Panasonic memory test.
The R88M-G series matches the standard Panasonic alignment:
+U-V = 240E
+U-W = 180E

R88M-G Series Model Breakdown
The R88M-K series appear to be setup just like Panasonic motors, but we have received some info that they may use a different alignment in some cases (+U-V=60E and +U-W=0E). We are still not 100% certain. The Panasonic Memory Test angles should not be used. Please make sure to always record the incoming alignment on your motor. Here is the common alignment we have documented most so far.
+U-V = 240E
+U-W = 180E

R88M-H series is fitted with an encoder that which we currently do not support. The TI-5623 test cable matches the feedback connector, but we do not support the S+ and S- channels. We can power the encoder and see the A/B signals counting. We have even connected to the encoder PCB and read out the UVW commutation pulses directly. They are likely using a system similar to Yaskawa C-Channel encoders, but our module does not correctly decode the S channels.

R88M-U series seem to come with 12 or 15 bit ABS style Yaskawa encoders and also Yaskawa C-channel encoders.

In case you're in need to finding out what type of encoder the Omron R88M-U series have to offer you can go by the nameplate designation:

R88M-W series come equipped with Yaskawa serial encoders (INC or ABS). They are also aligned using the standard Yaskawa alignment: +U-V=150E, +U-W=210E
You can reference the part number on the motor's label to help identify the feedback device on the motor. The 'incremental' encoder is the 13bit INC and the 'absolute' encoder is the 17bit ABS.
Below are the wire colors as listed in the Omron drive manual for the serial ABS encoders. The serial INC encoders will not have the two battery wires.

R88M-1L/1M series come equipped with a 23 bit batteryless absolute encoder that uses 4 wires. One of the documented encoder models on these motors is 35MA-MS01-11B, which is not supported on the TI-5000JX at the moment. We used a corresponding Omron drive to document the alignment of the motors, found here in the datasheet below. We plan on adding support for these encoders in future.

The smaller 7 pin JAE JN6 feedback connection is compatible with our TI-5773 test cable.
The larger 10 pin circular JAE is compatible with our TI-5074 test cable.
