The TI-5000JX and TI-3000JX support the majority of the Kollmorgen AKM feedback options, including: generic incremental encoders, resolvers, Hiperface, Hiperface DSL, EnDat, SSI, BiSS, and others. The feedback type is identified in the AKM motor model number. Check with our support team to help determine which feedback type your motor is using.
We currently do not support the proprietary SFD or SFD3 serial protocol, but we can bypass the SFD converter board and connect directly to the resolver for standard testing using the TI-5928 test cable.
The following part number breakdown is helpful in determining the feedback type installed on your motor.
We are starting to see AKM4 motors equipped with DSL EES/EESM-17bit encoders that aren't mentioned in the manufacturer's literature. Our TI-5000JX doesn't have direct support for these encoders, however we already have support on the TI-3000JX to run these motors.
Our Research and Development team is already developing the support on the TI-5000JX as well.
As a work around to test these encoders with the TI-5000JX we recommend using the DSL EKS/EKM-18bit selections.
Due to the 1 bit difference it is important to consider on setting the pole selection double the number of recorded poles. For example a 10 pole motor will need to be set to 20 poles in Athena in order to get accurate alignment readings.
