While our software does support Sanyo Denki serial encoders found on the legacy P Series motors, this article explores the newer serial encoders that we cannot yet test. These are found on Q and R series motors, and we are currently in development. We believe the encoders use the Nikon A-format serial protocol which we find in use with other Japanese motor brands such as Omron, Panasonic, Nachi, and more.
Sanyo Denki Q Series
The Sanyo Denki Q series can come equipped with feedback option 'S' for Wire Saving Incremental encoders that are supported with our Generic Incremental encoder selection. The feedback options D, P, F, and W all come with serial encoders that are currently unsupported. Please see the motor model breakdown in 'Image 1' below.
In addition to determining the feedback type by the motor model, you may also see some labels on the encoder housing or printed directly on the encoder itself which can help identify them.
S = PP031, PP038, PP062 Wire-saving incremental
D = PA035M (E03B131302) INC, 13 bit (Manchester)
P = PA035C (M40ANN02) ABS, 17 bit + 16 bit multiturn
F = RA062M or RA035M battery-less resolver ABS, 15 bit (Manchester) + 13 bit multiturn
W = RA062C or RA035C battery-less resolver ABS, 17 bit (start-stop) + 13 bit multiturn

Sanyo Denki R Series
The Sanyo Denki R series originally offered only two serial feedback options, H or P, that are both unsupported (Image 2). However, their newest R series offerings bring back more feedback offerings (Image 3).
S = PP018T, 8192 ppr Wire-saving incremental
K = PP031, 2000 ppr Wire-saving incremental
H = PA035S (S40ALN00) INC, 17 bit
P = PA035C (M40ANN02) ABS, 17 bit + 16 bit multiturn
W = RA062C or RA035C battery-less ABS, 17 bit (start-stop) + 13 bit multiturn
R = HA035 (35MA-MS01-11B) battery-less optical ABS, 23 bit + 16 bit multiturn
C = MA018 INC, 13 bit
